MEASURING GUIDE FOR CURTAINS

Please do not measure the window as this does not necessarily have a bearing on curtain measurements.  Measure carefully and check measurements before placing an order.

There are basic lengths to have in mind when measuring: full length, sill length etc. However curtains can be made to any length you choose.  Also bear in mind that individual windows even within the same room may not be the same size, so check each window individually.  Tracks and poles must be installed prior to measuring.

MEASURING FOR PENCIL PLEATED CURTAINS

If your curtains are to be installed using a simple plastic track then first measure from the top of the track (point A) to the required finished length.

However if your curtains are to be hung from a traditional pole, measure from the bottom of the curtain ring, on the pole(point B), to the required finished length.

MEASURING FOR EYELET CURTAINS

Eyelet curtains can only be installed with a curtain pole.  There must be a 5cm clearance above the top of the pole to allow the curtains to be pulled freely.  Measure from the top of the pole (Point B) to the required finished length.  This is the measurement we will require in the order process for this style.  However overall curtain drop will measure a few centimeters more, as we will add a certain amount above the eyelet when constructing.

MEASURING FOR HIDDEN TAB TOP CURTAINS

Hidden Tab top curtains are a modern take on the former tab top curtains.  Please see heading styles for a photograph of this style.  These curtains can only be fitted with a pole.  There must be a 5cm clearance above the top of the pole to allow the curtains to be pulled freely.

Measure from the top of the pole (point B) to the required finished length.  This is the measurement we will require in the order process for this style.  However overall curtain drop will measure slightly more, as part of this particular curtain sits above the pole.  Tabs will be concealed at the back of the curtain similar to a slot heading.

CALCULATING WIDTH

Usually curtains hang outside the window recess from a track or pole.  So simply measure the track or pole excluding finales, (decorative ends to pole).

(point C to point D)

If the curtains are to hang inside the window recess, you should measure this exact width.  It is possible that windows widths vary so do check that the bottom of the recess measures the same as the top.  If they measure differently simply use the larger measurement.

VALANCE

We supply simple straight valances for pencil pleated curtains only.  Valances are usually 1/6 of the overall curtain drop.  If you select this option then it will default to this measurement to the nearest cm.  If you would like a different size you can select a different size for yourself.

Widths of valances are the same fullness as the curtain width.  So we do not need any other measurements.

ALL MEASUREMENTS MUST BE IN FULL CENTIMETRES
